Nick Petrangelo is the chip leader on day one of SHRB VIII
This weekend takes place the Super High Rollew Bowl, a traditional high-stakes tournament on the PokerGO Tour calendar. Thursday (28th) was the first day of the event and the event attracted 20 entrants, slightly less than expected for a major moment in the online series. Topping the list is Nick Petrangelo.
One of the stars of the high stakes scene, the American finished top of the 12 chip players. Petrangelo’s chip total of 887,000 puts him just ahead of runner-up Andrew Lichtenberger (811,000). Following closely behind are stars Isaac Haxton (644,000) and Jason Koon (623,000). Businessman Cary Katz rounded out the top five with 486,000.
Daniel Negreanu is still alive in the tournament. The reigning Super High Roller Bowl champion increased his starting stack from 300,000 to 420,000. Stephen Chidwick is another bright spot with 404,000 chips. The Brit hit the jackpot just days after winning the Poker Masters Purple Jacket. Brewer Jager, Bonomo, Kristen Foxen and Kenney also advanced.
Day 2 begins at 4:00 PM Brazilian time with big blinds at 3,000/6,000. Only the top four finishers will advance to the ITM round, with at least $600,000 in prize money up for grabs. The overall winner will take home a whopping $2,760,000. The second place winner will receive $1,680,000 and the third place winner will receive $960,000.
